In a small, red-and-white shop in Grand Marais, Minnesota-you’ll find the “World’s Best Donuts.” We mean it. If you don’t like cake donuts, then you haven’t tried ours! Cake donuts are one of our nearly 30 donut recipes, and they’re the staple of our family business. Our customers kindly say they are the “World’s Best.”

Starting after Labor Day: CLOSED ON TUESDAYS & WEDNESDAYS
Open 7 days a week (until after Labor Day) from 6:30 a.m. until about 4:00 p.m. Sundays we close around 3:00. Be sure to drop in early before we run out of your favorite donut! Call ahead & we’ll put an order aside for you, so you can pick them up before we close: 218-387-1345
We’re very often slammed with lines flowing out the front door, and from the whiz-up window out into the sidewalk (often into the street!) If you’re curious about how many donuts we make, we simply give our grandma’s tried-and-true answer. She would always say, “We make more donuts than McDonald’s sell hamburgers…because they have time to count.”
Donuts are the love and livelihood of our 5-generation donut family. They give us joy. They fill us up when our taste buds need a treat. They help us celebrate special events. And, they allow our family to thrive in, and give back to, our small community.
Visiting World’s Best Donuts is an experience-and there’s a lot here to enjoy! Aside from delicious donuts, we have a cozy, red-and-white, old-fashioned coffee room for you and your loved ones to indulge in your donuts and a hot cup of coffee indoors. In warmer weather, our walk-up window is surrounded by picnic tables for you to feel the cool breeze of the Grand Marais Harbor and soak in the serene views while eating our delicious treats.
While you’re visiting, buy a World’s Best Donuts coffee mug and take a picture of it on your travels. Send the photo to us, and we’ll add it to our collection in the coffee room for everyone to see! Also, be sure to become an official donut lover by signing your name next to a number on our wall. Remember the number, and when you visit us the following year, you’ll get a cake donut on the house! It’s our way of saying “thanks” for your business.

We LOVED the town of Grand Marais. This hotel was the perfect location to walk anywhere in the town. It was so convenient to just walk to restaurants, shopping and the beach. The view from the room was fantastic and unexpected. The room had a little patio that overlooked the lake. It was very clean and had a nice tile shower with a double shower head. So much nicer than what I expected. They also had a very nice fitness room, which I didn’t use since the weather was great and we got lots of exercise outdoors. But this would be great in the winter or inclement weather. There was a free breakfast which was nice. They kept it clean and well maintained, which I noticed and appreciated. Can’t wait for our next trip! We will definitely stay here again!
