Get to Know The Jason Weismann Duo
Superior Inn Grand Marais first introduced The Jason Weismann Duo to the area at its first Wellness Seminar weekend held in Novemeber 2008. Since then, Lodge guests and visitors have enjoyed his musical stylings at several of our “Live at The Lodge” events.
With a hat tip to the crooners now and yesteryear and an emerging voice as a sax soloist, Jason Weismann is a new voice to the Twin Cities Jazz scene. While interjecting a good helping of musicianship back into traditional vocal crooning, and original arrangement with his instrumental work, he takes his years of traditional Jazz studies along with years as a featured soloist to the band stand.
Great care is applied with every arrangement. He currently plays in many groups around the Twin Cities as a Solo sax player and leads a few of his own groups. He has spent years “paying his dues” graduating from the esteemed “Berklee College of Music” in Boston Massachusetts as a Magna Cum Laude honoree. While attending Berklee Jason was a member of Berklee’s elite vocal Jazz group, while Majoring in Saxophone performance and Film scoring. later, he founded the well established Jaztronauts with Brother Joe Weismann. Jason’s current projects feature some of the best Jazz musicians that Minnesota has to offer. His roster is a virtual who’s who of fine artists in the Midwest.
Gary has been a professional musician for 30+ years, working throughout the industry as a performer, composer, arranger and programmer. He studied with Lorna Michelson, Herb Wigley, Manfredo Fest and Jill Dawe. Gary has performed with Tony Sandler, Marilyn McCoo, Othello Molineaux, Tim Ries, Brian Duncan and the Minnesota Vikings Band. He continues to perform regularly with Marv Dahlgren, Yolanda Bruce, Judi Donaghy, Cynthia Johnson, Jeff King, the Sevilles and others. As a composer/synthesist with Herb Pilhofer Music, Gary composed music and designed sounds for numerous national TV ads including spots for Coca Cola, Discover Card, Target, and Porsche. He also performed on the soundtrack for the movie “Beautiful Girls” and coached the lead actor, Timothy Hutton, in piano technique.

“Wonderful hotel! Has a `lodge’ theme, and you can tell that a lot of thought, money, planning, and effort went into the building of this hotel. Lots of natural wood throughout the building. Hotel is right on a lake, has a dock, and strongly promotes its `green’ theme, which is nice. Rooms are quiet and were very clean. High-end toiletries. Hotel is within walking distance of a beautiful nature walk/bike trail and gas station/convenience store, with eateries/other stores within one to two miles.”
